“Pretty girls don’t make good models.” Do you agree?

I had a very interesting and informal chat with professional fetish and boudoir photographer Nic Marchant in between shooting rope bondage, suspension and vintage glamour with him at his studio for KFS TV. Between us, we have 50 years of experience! I got some real talk straight from the horse's mouth on Nic's line of business, including:

  • How to start taking good fetish or boudoir shots right away, even with little or no experience*
  • Film vs digital
  • Shooting vs post-processing
  • How Nic chooses models to work with (as if I wouldn't ask that question!)

Watch the KFS video of our shoot and interview below, or watch it on YouTube (contains nudity)!

You may also be interested to know why Nic thinks it really pays to be a boudoir photographer... and what he said that nearly made me cry right there on camera! ;) There is also some footage of me posing nude at my photo shoot with him.

Hanging out with Nic at our fetish shoot.

Musn't let my mascara run! ;)

* Hint: “Photographing your girlfriend is a very difficult starting point... I think it’s unfair to expect anyone who isn’t a professional model to just switch it on... You need a brilliant model to make it work.”

#FetishFriday flashback to my first shoot with Restrained Elegance and Ariel Anderssen

I found these from my first ever shoot with Restrained Elegance, who I've worked with many times since, as you probably know! Apologies if you already saw me retweet these on Twitter this morning. It was just a fun reminder for me! There is a wonderful core of really nice fetish producers in the UK who I work for regularly- you'll tend to see me popping up repeatedly on a handful of sites. They are run by genuine people who treat models and actors really professionally and make shoot days fun :)

These photos make me smile because I remember it as the first set I shot with Ariel Anderssen. Ariel is a trained actress as well as a model. She is SO lovely and friendly and bubbly in real life that she put me at my ease the second I arrived. The shoot concept was that she was a model who had been booked by me, a sinister photographer, who has the tables turned on her!

It was hilarious because Ariel genuinely scared me for a second when she turned mean for the movie. It was like I had turned my back for one second and there was a totally different and very intimidating person standing there! It really blew my mind and still inspires me to up my game a bit when it comes to the acting-on-video portion of my job. Ideally, I'd like to take a course of Voice & Movement lessons, but it's difficult to commit to a regular class schedule when you know you're going to end up getting booked on the same days as the classes!

Anyway! Here I am being the "GWC" shooting lovely sweet Ariel...

And here Ariel is scaring the living daylights out of me turning the tables by tying up and shooting her photographer!

The actual photographer, Hywel, wrote a really interesting piece on the ethics and politics of shooting fetish material, which is definitely worth a read :)

Today is the last day of the tour! I'm meeting my father for dinner tonight while he's visiting from France, then home to Somerset tomorrow. Can't wait :)

#WardrobeWednesday with Bryan Shaw, Playful Promises, Fabulously Fetish, Lady Allura's Latex & Bare Skin Beauty

I started writing this blog back at Norwich Station after three days of shooting in Norfolk and by stealing free wifi from Pumpkin Cafe, and am just finishing at home now! I would have bought a cappuccino but they didn't do vegan milk >:(

Fittingly for "#FetishFriday", Friday was a bondage shoot for me! I was supposed to have another bondage shoot in Norwich the morning before, but unfortunately it was cancelled as the photographer had another emergency with his dog. Annoying situation overturned by thinking about how upset I'd be if one of my cats had to be rushed to pet hospital on the morning of a shoot, or anytime, for that matter. Poor doggy :(

In the afternoon after the cancelled shoot, I had a fashion shoot in Kings Lynn to keep me out of trouble, and the day before that, two fashion shoots in one day in different Norfolk towns! I'm so glad I get Virgin Atlantic air miles from all my train tickets!

When I was up north last week, I also worked for a lovely couple who run a slew of bondage sites. They've just bought new lights and equipment so the photos were extra nice, and they always give me time to get my hair, makeup and wardrobe just right :) Here's an outtake, in case you didn't already see it on Facebook/ Twitter/ Tumblr!

My cat isn't the only one who like to photo-bomb me!

Now for some proper modelling photos ;)

Now I'm home and have some moody black and white lingerie photos from my trip to Cambridge :) The lingerie was a gift from wonderful Playful Promises, the pendant from Lady Allura's Latex, and the amazing knee-high patent leather lace-up fetish boots were kindly lent for the shoot by Fabulously Fetish :)

Really enjoying  my new resolution to take the equivalent of two days off a week, like people with regular jobs do! It seems to have increased my productivity and general sense of wellbeing :) I booked off Monday - Thursday this week to compensate for two weeks without a single day off, and it feels amazing! I've been keeping up with emails of course, but that's it, other than Pilates :) Back to full-time shooting on Friday, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated :)

Happy Lunar New Year of the Horse!

I'm a day late of course, but then, I'm not a very speedy pony...

Q: How do ponygirls say hello?
A: "Hayyyyyy"

Hair and makeup by moi, wardrobe styling by petandponygirls.com

I like how you can see my thighs reflected on my shiny latex crotch in a little heart shape on this one :D

These photos are all taken from sets I shot exclusively for petandponygirls.com, who have tons more photos and videos of me as various cute pets, not just ponies, including bunnies, cats, transformations and interviews :)

Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! I hope the Year of the Horse is a wonderful and fun one for us all :)

Professional restraint vs total lack of restraint in real life :p

This week, #NakedSundays is brought to you by Restrained Elegance, the classiest bondage site on the net, in case you didn't already see it on Tumblr/ Twitter/ Facebook :) Something weird happened to the quality when I uploaded it from my computer but you can watch the full high quality video in the website's members' area.

I write to you from my own sofa (for once), where I am curled up in front of a roaring fire in my leopard print PJs drinking Vita Coco and having a hungover Simpsons marathon with a friend who's visiting from the Shire. What was going to be civilised birthday drinkies for a friend of a friend in Camden last night turned into a bit of a late-night rampage on Crystal Head Vodka! I must get a bottle for my little cocktail-making zone at home, not that I can bear to think about cocktails too much right now.

I did a LOT of online shopping this morning, which may not have been advisable, but then I did get two pairs of amazeballs shoes and four dresses for under £40, boom! Including my NYE dress, silver sequinned zebra print for seeing The Prodigy :D :D I have gold sparkly studded cowboy boots but I'd really like to find a silver pair to match, hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

My little baldie cats are in their new winter jumpers. Lilith is in blue, because it goes with her eyes and some of her "blue" colouring, and Dexter is in pink, because he's gay.

"I hate you, Mom."

Lips to die for and how to get them! Bare Skin Beauty Chamomile & Honey Lip Saver review. Or: Is it worth buying a £5 lip balm?

I get lots of questions about how to maintain photo-ready pin-up girl skin, and always say the main three things are:

  1. stop smoking
  2. start drinking a Glowing Green Smoothie for breakfast
  3. use natural skincare

Petroleum =/= beauty

Most of the stuff you get in the chemist or supermarket, whether it's the super cheap stuff or expensive designer brands, is pretty minging when you get right down to it. My eyes were opened when I learned that petroleum, which is the main ingredient in almost every commercial lip balm (just read the ingredients list!) attacks the natural collagen in your skin, speeding up the appearance of wrinkles! So I tried Burt's Bees lip balm, which uses beeswax as the base instead of petroleum. Over an admittedly fairly long period of months of using organic petroleum-free lip balm, I noticed that my lips looked smoother and fuller. I wasn't getting the ridges in my lipstick at photo shoots, or having it keep travelling upwards into those vertical lines that cross the upper lip line. This was a couple of years ago. Now I'm older, but my lips look younger :)

Designer vs Natural Skincare

Well, that got me interested in natural skincare as a whole! I'd always figured that something specifically engineered in a lab had to be more effective than something that occurred in nature. Now I think there are two problems with this seemingly reasonable hypothesis:

  1. We evolved within only natural environments, so it makes a kind of sense that we'd react better to natural ingredients than new/ modern ones.
  2. Just because something amazing could be engineered in a lab, doesn't always mean it actually has been. Massive corporations have motivation to keep costs down and profits up. If say, good advertising did more to sell products than their actual effectiveness, there's no question that more money would then be invested in the advertising than the product. It just makes good business sense. Ditto using cheap ingredients over quality ones.

Good lip balm is a bondage model's best friend!

I wear lip balm every day, re-applying regularly from when I first brush my teeth in the morning to when I go to bed at night. I like to let it soak in! Red lipstick doesn't look good over chapped lips! I keep lip balm in my handbag and like to use it as a lipstick base- it acts like a moist Polyfilla, making my lips look extra smooth, full and plump!

I've read advice from makeup artists saying you should use your makeup foundation as a lipstick base, but it just doesn't work the same!

Today I tried using Bare Skin Beauty Chamomile & Honey Lip Saver as a lipstick base at my bondage shoot. I know a lot of bondage models wear little or no makeup at bondage shoots, because it's a bit of a gamble- you naturally end up in some odd positions and if your makeup smears/ runs/ flakes/ otherwise goes awry, you don't have a free hand to fix it with! And end up with a bunch of crappy pictures. I can't bear being shot without my red lipstick unless it's really frigging necessary so I work on doing makeup that holds- I use a lip brush and lip liner, makeup fix spray and a waxy lip balm base for my lipstick. Today I actually forgot to use the fix spray, but still, my lipstick stayed looking like this:

Not bad, right?

Is Bare Skin Beauty Chamomile & Honey Lip Saver worth a fiver?

I upgraded from £1 or less ageing petroleum jelly horrortins from Superdrug to natural lip balms ages ago and after seeing the change in my lips, begrudgingly concluded that the price difference was worth it. But a full £5 for a pot of lip balm?

Now I actually have it, I wish I'd made the switch years ago- I would have actually saved money. A tiny, tiny amount of this stuff goes a really long way- I'm talking a micro-blob about the size of a third of a grain of rice that just melts and covers my whole lips! I really like to slather lip balm on too, to make my lips extra shiny. That's right, an application the size of half a grain of rice is more than enough! This one little jar I have is going to last me months, and I use a lot of lip balm!

Up until now I’ve been using organic natural lip balm from an eBay seller, which was okay but not as greasy- it pulled at my lips more during application, had little scratchy bits in it that I had to pick out o.O and ran out really fast. I like a really greasy lip balm that will make my lips feel lubricated and look glossy, as well as being really moisturising and softening.

Bare Skin Beauty Chamomile & Honey Lip Saver has a light herby taste that I quite like. Boyfy said he couldn’t taste the honey but my lips do indeed feel softer! I think there's going to be a jar in my mother's and grandmother's Christmas packages this year :) It should be extra useful for protecting against the upcoming months of biting winter winds.

I hope this blog helps anyone interested in raw, organic natural skincare and makeup that makes you look good in the long-term as well as immediately after you put them on :) Please feel free to use the comments section below to share your thoughts, esp. if you give Chamomile & Honey Lip Saver a try yourself!

Industrial Nudes by G Haskew

I have something pretty unusual to share for this week's #NakedSundays! I recently shot with my friend G Haskew at this incredible empty industrial space. I sort of look like I've been Photoshopped into a Giger-esque computer-generated image, but no, I really am there!

Click the images to see larger versions ^

Nerdy fact: an episode of Red Dwarf was shot here, hence the biohazard sign on the top right! I watched it as soon as I got home because I may or may not have the box set

Notice the shadowy figures that have appeared on the right- must be ghosts ;)

I've been thinking about this summer's trip to Ireland today; think I might go in late June/ early July, when the weather's a little warmer. So if anyone in the UK would like to book me next month, I'll actually be here! You can email me or join me on Facebook.

I'll round off by sharing some Giger art work; seems appropriate :)

It would be so cool to do a full suspension bondage shoot along this theme, with silver dreads and full body makeup on a set with other models woven into tons of industrial tubes and wires and *faints*

Say cheese, bitch!

This month is turning into a right bondage fest! I usually get booked to look cross and pouty with my hands on my hips so it's a change of pace to be playing the submissive role. I have booked at least six or seven bondage jobs this month and there look to be even more in the pipeline!

I'm even modelling for a shibari workshop in North London tonight. Shibari is the ancient and beautiful art of Japanese rope bondage, a very historically and culturally interesting craft, as well as being lots of kinky fun to work with. I had a shibari photo shoot just this week and can't wait to share the photos. The effect of the rope looked really stunning on the back of the camera.

Last week saw me in a gorgeous house in the Cornish countryside for a few days of modelling for one of the classiest bondage websites out there, Restrained Elegance, with my friends Ariel Anderssen and Katy Cee. Ariel is a great rigger as well as model and did most of the tying up!

Katy and me, as tied by Ariel! Apologies if you already saw this on Twitter or Tumblr! Click for super-sized view :)

Here is Ariel working on rigging us up (that's her hand on the left!)- these complicated ties take time!

It's not often you see really nice two-girl ties of this quality, so here is another one for you, this time taken in my room for the week! It was a lovely attic room with sloping ceilings, skylights overlooking the rolling fields and woodlands with a dark chocolate satin bed that I could listen to the owls hooting in at night ♥

Checking out my bonds

This was a particularly ambitious tie for Ariel as it involved using two different coloured ropes, sky blue and gold! They worked really well with Katy's and my autumnal hair colours, blue eyes and fair skin but in order to get it perfect, it took a little while. We didn't mind in the least but Ariel was so worried that our arms would drop off before she'd finished! We did get a pillow to lean on while we were waiting though, which made all the difference ;)

I've got three different workshops to model for this week, including the shibari one tonight! If you happen to be one of the delegates, hello and thanks for keeping me busy :)
