Photoblog: Halloween party silliness

As you know, I spent Monday (Halloween itself) modelling for Lux Tenebrae with Adam Robertson in Wiltshire, so actually celebrated Halloween on the Saturday (29th). I ended up having a last-minute shoot in London, from which I already have some photos! You'll have already seen the first one on my Facebook page; here's another :)

Photographer: CJ Chmiel | Hair and makeup: me

I just topped up my shoot makeup on the way home (not very well) to look more Halloween-ish. I did better with Liam's, Bink's and our friend Iain's makeup as I could start from scratch :)

Iain and Binky

Hannah and Ras arrived as Shaun of the Dead zombies, complete with bloodstained cricket bat. This was excellent, although presented accidental clawing-through-holes-in-jeans problems when Lilith and Dexter sat on their laps.

Liam made a Halloween themed playlist- which I LOVED and hope he didn't delete!- I served a cauldron of pumpkin soup for dinner (the cooking of which somehow managed to include setting fire to Dexter's tail, although he didn't seem to notice), Iain mixed absinthe cocktails and we let Plan 9 From Outer Space go round and round on silent in the background about 900 times.

I think Adam and Dan came as the ultimate middle class horror, hoodie trick or treaters, although I could be wrong.

Around 6 am we decided it was time to do an impromptu Team Binkertson photo shoot. It made sense at the time

Me. I was supposed to be a zombie ballerina, in case you can't tell. It's not that obvious.

6 am family portait (L-R: Liam, Lilith, Dexter, me). Yes, the cats are in their pyjamas, the most sensible creatures in the house at that point.

Today I will mostly be catching up with my emails, eating healthy food to compensate for the weekend's sweetie overload, and getting an early night ;)

Black Swan

You know when you feel like you've found something that really expresses who you are, or at least, how you feel... some days? Yeah. Love these two new photos by Luci Phillips taken in my living room a few days ago :)

Dress: Buffies | Hair and makeup: me

It's been another crazy week in Anita Land...

I was shooting commercial/ lifestyle type things on Tuesday, then cast for two different shows on Wednesday before dashing off to a photo shoot in the evening, then yesterday I had two different shoots in two different places, but on the same day! Cue lots of makeup application, removal and re-application on the tube! Well, this weekend I'm cuing up my bed, DVDs and maybe even a pizza, I think! ;) Oh, and Hannah Ashlea's Pretend to be a Dinosaur Day party tonight... I think I'll wear my snakeskin pattern leggings... snakes and dinosaurs both have scaly skin, right?.. but can't think what to wear with them! Or what to bring... all I can think of is T Rex cocktail puns.

  • Long Island Iced T Rex

Noire DuBois

Ooh, I love these photos that Luci Phillips has posted from our shoot in my apartment two days ago (one of my £60 "September Apartment Shoot" bargains)! Go go, Gadget Wig! So impressed that it stayed on during some extensive hair-flicking! Thank you, Faye!!

Styling and, erm, location provided by yours truly :) | Dress from Buffies

Seeing Streetcar on the big screen yesterday was amazing. I studied the play at A Level and have always liked the film, but seeing it yesterday I felt like I really "got" it and understood the character of Blanche DuBois for the first time. It may seem ridiculous for a financially independent and happily coupled 25 year old English girl to say she relates to a fictional, fading, utterly dependent (famously on "the kindness of strangers") Southern belle, but I did. I was so moved that instead of being sociable when the film was over, I ran straight home to watch it alone in my living room all over again, with the lights out, a big bottle of Absolut and lots of ice. Don't feel sorry for me; I was enjoying indulging myself, in a maudlin sort of way. In fact, it was a nice surprise to be affected so much by a film I'd already seen multiple times.

On an unrelated note, how cool is the "Glimmer" Absolut bottle?? When it's empty, I'm going to keep it and make it my new vodka decanter. I love that diamond "cut glass" pattern on almost anything!

I have another £60 Apartment Shoot tomorrow- they're turning out to be really popular!- so after I've blogged this I'll be giving my place the once-over, then soaking in a hot tub with a face pack and a good book for, oh, a couple of hours :)

Royal Pin-up

I'm back in Blighty after a (mostly) sunny week shooting an editorial in The Algarves, Portugal. What a beautiful area of the world! I hope you liked the "postcard" ;)

I shot these photos for Buffies burlesque online catalogue with Jaz Ampaw-Farr at James Thorpe Photography Studio back in the UK earlier this month. What a fun shoot!

 Hair and makeup by me!

I'll be dressed rather differently tomorrow night, in a red leather biker jacket, my Lorber Vintage tee-shirt, pink skull-print leggings, black leather motorcycle boots, MAC Cyber lipstick, spiky leather dog collar and a very messy faux-hawk, ready to attend what looks to be a charming little weekend-long soiree in Tufnell Park called  FUCK THE ROYAL WEDDING. If I'm going to celebrate the marriage of two complete strangers whose wedding I am not invited to attend, yet all my British friends and I are helping to pay for, then this is the way I'd like to do it :) Oi oi!

Buffies Catalogue

Since this afternoon's shoot has now been postponed until tomorrow morning, I thought I'd post some photos from a recent shoot for Buffies catalogue with Martyn Davis at Adrian Pini Studios :) I'm looking forward to doing more shoots for Buffies as the clothes are just so fun to wear and shoot, and I was pleasantly surprised by the prices on the website, too. My insider tip for buying these corsets is to buy one size smaller than you think you need, as they are generously sized :)

Hair and makeup by me!

My haircut still looked super dramatic from just having had it cut and coloured for a shoot for HOB Salons. It's amazing how much it's already grown in just two weeks! oO I'm thinking of maybe trying to lighten the golden blonde section to white the next time I have it coloured... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Peaches and cream :)

Plans for my first European Tour this summer are going well so far (yeah, I like to plan things 4 - 5 months in advance, what of it?). I'm especially looking forward to shooting for Buffies in an eighteenth century French chateau in June, woo! :)

I'll be shooting fashion and glamour assignments in Portugal for the last week of April then heading back to the continent again in June after my Scottish and Irish Tours are over and visiting various cities in France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. I also want to visit Brussels, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Madrid, if I have time!

In the meantime, here are some more glamorous portraits by Barrie Spence, taken in completely natural light :)

Tomorrow's photographer had to postpone so I have train tickets to get me to Sheffield but nothing to do when I get there! I may do some Googling and see if there's any touristy things to do there so I can have a little day out :) If not, I might just stay home and prep for Tuesday's shoot in Kent :)

Buffies Catalogue

I LOVE this dress! It's like something Nicky Wire (one of my personal style icons) would wear and you can buy your own here exclusively at bargainous high street prices! These photos have also been featured on the Buffies homepage as well as their online catalogue :)

I think I need to shoot this dress again with my ballet heels and give it a Black Swan theme :D

In other news, I just got a phone call booking me to shoot a hair fashion video with Stacey Broughton on Thursday for American company ScissorBoy, which has a readership of 30 000! I'll post the video here when it's done. Should be fun! :D
