Modelling advice: How to Pick the Perfect Pseudonym!

My honest, practical and comprehensive guide to freelance modelling, The Ugly Girl's Guide to Becoming a Model, will be published later this year, but in the meantime I am exclusively sharing four extracts with PinUpPixels.com so that you can try before you buy!

My first, 'Pick Your Perfect Model Pseudonym!', is online now! Read it here and let me know what you think!

What's your model pseudonym??

Lots of love,

Stephen Perry on the beach

I have some more photos from the third and last location of my day shooting with Stephen Perry: Folkestone Beach! I did all the styling :)

I just won a vintage 1950s Avonware baby pink butter dish on eBay. Yep!

My goat's butter will look better in this than in its current plate-under-an-upturned-bowl setup. I stopped buying margarine recently on the basis that it sucks. I guess if I wanted to really stay faithful to the 1950s in my kitchen, I would use my new old butter dish to store cow's butter, but then I would probably also be beating my wife and not allowing black people into cafes, so I guess a little judiciously applied modernity here and there can go a long way.

Bye!!

Stephen Perry in the boudoir

I have some new boudoir shots from my productive photo shoot with Stephen Perry! For this set, I made the styling more classic and timelessly glamorous to suit the luxurious location.

Well, things certainly have been crazy in my world since Oyster was released! It seems a lot of people are noticing it, which is wonderful news. For example, at the moment I'm in the process of arranging not one but two photo shoots, one in Monte Carlo and one here in London, with a super-famous fashion photographer whose name I won't disclose just yet, but I promise that you would recognise some of his photos if I posted them, even if you aren't in "the industry"! He has shot hundreds of supermodels and fashion celebrities, from Erin O'Connor to Dolce & Gabbana to Dita Von Teese, and after seeing Oyster he decided he wanted to shoot me!

The Monte Carlo shoot will probably be in October since I will be in Europe anyway then, modelling for boudoir and fine art nude workshops in Malta. I am very excited to be working with him and we are already putting together ideas for looks. The results will be published in books and possibly as an editorial in a certain well-known fashion magazine as well ;)

Don't worry, I will keep you updated! I'm so excited to share every step of the journey with you!

Love, Anita xo

London Alternative Fashion Week: catwalk video from day 1

I'm so busy with photo shoots and other work-related admin that I only managed two days at London Alternative Fashion Week this year! It's still going on so you have time to pop down to Spitalfields Market (near Liverpool Street Station) if you want to see a free fashion show with 14 of "the most original and creative collections by a fresh crop of new designers" :)

I was there Monday and Wednesday (yesterday). On Monday I walked for two designers, one called Jar & Jam with a sort of cyber-sportswear type collection, and a retro latex designer called Lucky Dame Couture. After they had left I discovered that I still had one of their latex hair bows attached to my hair. I hope they don't mind!

Here is Monday's official video- it's worth watching the whole thing as the collections are so wild, but look out for me wearing Jar & Jam at 00:59 and Lucky Dame at 04:07! I probably could have done with attending some more runway classes beforehand, but ironically they kept clashing with runway shows that I was booked to do!

I must say that on the day, Chantal Gibbs-Jones really stood out to me (the last collection to be shown). I absolutely LOVE combining chic British tailoring, corsetry and silk with feathers and taxidermy and might well be getting my own outfit soon!

I will post about Wednesday when I have collected any photos or video that I can find from it :)

Today I'm not working until 5.30 pm, which is sort of like having a day off, really! I will need to spend much of it in talks with various people about upcoming projects but I also found time to do a little cardio too. I hope I can squeeze in some time for an ice-cream! I have a huge craving for a vanilla and chocolate cone today... I will have it in my lounge in front of the fire and listen to the rain on the window!

Anita De Bauch vs. Stephen Perry

Here is that raincoat photo I promised you!

I had some excitement earlier this month when I was shooting all day with the great Stephen Perry on location in Folkestone. I felt like we really "clicked" and "got" each other straight away, which is a nice feeling to get when you've only just met :) You might have seen a teaser image from the shoot on Twitter or Facebook... this is the full image that I wasn't allowed to post on the social networking sites ;)

One of the many great things about working with Stephen was that he was happy to let me style myself, which on this day resulted in me wearing my Burberry mack a LOT. There is just something special about being naked inside a Burberry mack! You should definitely try it if you haven't already! Failing that, there will be more photos of me having fun being naked in my mack coming soon, which you'll be notified of right away, since I'm sure you've subscribed to my blog by now!!

I hope you had a great Easter weekend with lots of chocolate, hot cross buns and perhaps a bunny girl or two! Our friend Dan Hubbert whisked me, my boyfriend, Zehra, Madame Bink and Bink's little dachshund, Major, away to a secluded Gothic lodge in Devon for the long weekend. It was a lovely idea for catching up as he recently moved from London to Stockholm, and we've missed being able to hang out whenever we feel like it! Sometimes it seems like everyone I know lives or is moving abroad!

Anyway, after three nights of fun in the countryside with friends and feeling very refreshed, I spent a couple of days shooting up north and in the southeast, including a full day shooting latex and bondage videos and stills, mmmmm, a whole day in latex and bondage! Hopefully I will be allowed to share some of the photos in the De Bauchee Lounge over on anitadebauch.com, once it's up and running! In the meantime, you can still buy my 8x10s, limited edition postcards and signed coffee table books in my Shop, all of which feature my full colour latex photos! There is nothing like having real, physical memorabilia in your hands to keep forever! Or that's what I think, anyway.

I'm back in London for lots of shows and photo shoots during Alt Fashion Week this week, which is free entry, so I'll see you there tomorrow (I'm walking for One Eyed Designs)!

Love, Anita xo

Marie Schuller's fashion film 'Oyster', feat. Vivienne Westwood and Dans La Vie!

I am SO thrilled to finally be allowed to share the new fashion film, Oyster, that I recently made with international award-winning filmmaker Marie Schuller! It was sponsored by Vivienne Westwood and Dans La Vie and premiered in London on 13th April at the Fringe! Gay Film Festival! I just can't stop watching and re-watching it:

Marie has shot with lots of celebrities like supermodel Raquel Zimmerman and legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight, and I've personally been a huge fan of her work since I was introduced to it in Singapore last year, so I was almost overwhelmed with excitement when she contacted me out of the blue, getting straight down to business by asking me point-blank to star in her latest film, without even having met me, let alone auditioned me! The first time we met in person was at the shoot itself! She put me at my ease immediately as she is a lovely person and great company as well as being awe-inspiringly creative. It was a pretty crazy experience shooting the film, as you might imagine, but once I got going it felt like the most natural thing in the world. I smile to myself every time I ride the tube, now ;)

For those who particularly like mackintoshes + nudity (you know who you are!), I will be also be posting some gorgeous new photos (really, some of my favourites ever!) featuring my own classic tan Burberry trench coat  in my next blog, so please subscribe now to be alerted when they are online!

Lots of love,

Anita xo

Cover of Alt fashion magazine!

Oh my!!!

I'm so happy with my Alt fashion cover and three-page pictorial! My copy arrived in the post today along with an extra freshly minted copy for me to sign, kiss with lipstick and sell in my Shop!

Latex: Anatomic Bomb | Photographer & set designer: Julian M Kilsby | Hair: Leigh-Anne Regan | Makeup: me!

I arrived home from a little trip around my local charity shops (I love bargain-hunting in charity shops, and there are several good ones near me) to find the big brown envelope waiting for me on the "Welcome" mat. It was so exciting that I actually wandered around the house for about half an hour, tidied the lounge a little and made a pot of blackcurrant tea before finally sitting down to open it. They remembered to mention my website as well as my name, which is very important! I had great fun signing and kissing the extra copy for the Shop to leave a personal lipstick kiss!

I hope they ask me to shoot another cover for them at some point, although I guess they might not want the same girl on the cover very often, not to mention that this is already their first cover that they are planning on keeping for 6 months instead of 3! Still, email the editor at leona@altfashion.co.uk and tell her how much you like seeing me on the cover, will you? Then they might ask me back! :)

I just got back from a lovely long weekend in a countryside lodge with friends, which I will post about another time as right now I have to re-pack my suitcase for a photo shoot up north tomorrow, which I have to leave for this afternoon! Busy, busy, busy!

You may have noticed that my new Facebook page is using the Alt fashion cover as its profile picture! Please go >HERE< and click the Like button as I am moving from my old fanpage, even though it did have thousands of "Likes". facebook.com/AnitaDeBauch is a much easier URL to find and remember!

"Pin-Up has an image and it is Anita De Bauch."

I'm just quoting an article titled 'Anita De Bauch' on PinUpPixels.com (you probably already saw it when it came out yesterday). They must know what they're talking about, right??

I thought I'd post the photos in the article in a larger format here, so you can get a better look, after you've read the article, of course ;) They're from a shoot I did with Luci Phillips for Anatomic Bomb latex and Fabulously Fetish shoes at a cute 50s diner in Winchester called Buddy's. You probably saw the silly little teaser video I made on Facebook!

Well, here are two of the photos! There are more teasers to follow, and full photo sets will be available to anitadebauch.com members in the De Bauchee Lounge, when it is open! To be the first to know when you can sign up, please send a blank email to contact@anitadebauch.com with "GUEST LIST" in the subject line. The first 40 people to sign up will get lots of lovely free gifts posted to them :)

I'm on holiday in the countryside with friends for the Easter weekend, so please be patient if waiting for a reply to a message. Many thanks and happy Easter- remember, you never need an excuse to enjoy chocolate!!

Home improvements, Anita style!

Well, the renovation of my 1930s apartment is well and truly underway! My landlord is a fan of plain white walls, contemporary pine furniture and minimalist decor (ugh! Yuk!) so there was plenty to do to turn it back into something like the charming little pad it (possibly) once was! I must be one of the few women in the world who consider a "home improvement" to be taking one's home back in time instead of modernising it! It is surprising how sensitive we are to our surroundings. I feel so much happier, more relaxed and at home in my own home now that it is starting to feel less like someone else's house and more like my own life-size doll's house!

The hallway and landing have been repainted and I have replaced the dusty linen shades with glittering chandeliers I had imported from Germany. There is a matching third one over my bed. It makes very pretty, sparkling patterns on the ceiling, especially when the light is dimmed!

Photo Darren Birkin and I took on my landing yesterday! I did all the styling, of course! The bra was made from an original 1950s spiral stitched bullet bra design from What Katie Did and the shoes are from Fabulously Fetish.

I decorated the kitchen and bathroom with a 1950s theme, to balance vintage glamour with modern conveniences. 1930s would simply have been too old-fashioned for these rooms, which I have to use and live in- I would not have been able to have a fitted kitchen with a washing machine or microwave oven, for a start!

I hope to do a little photo shoot or two with vintage 1950s dresses in the kitchen once it's had its last little details finished, but in the meantime, here is a little snap I took of its progress on my phone while the decorator was having a coffee break!

Marilyn watches over my Kilner jars! She was an enthusiastic cook and even wrote her own book of (fairly complicated) recipes. The space on the end of the shelf is where the champagne will live ;)

My decorator will be back in two weeks, so that's my deadline to gather the paint and vintage wallpaper for the living room. I like a challenge!! I have a very clear idea of how it should look in my mind, but it would probably sound awful to most people if I described it! For one thing, I want there to be an exotic animal motif, à la 1930s China. Two of my holy grails for this room are a really full-tailed peacock to perch on the TV cabinet and a vintage bear or leopard rug in front of the fire, like this:

This instantly makes me think of The Munsters' house, which was my dream home when I was 18!

I'm not really sure where my fascination with taxidermy comes from because I hated it when I was a little girl. I've always been a big animal-lover and the idea of having dead animals scattered about the place just didn't appeal. Perhaps it's because since then I have spent so much time watching old films and looking at old glamour photographs from the 1920s - 50s, which so often involve taxidermy.

My attitude also changed when I found out that these days, people aren't allowed to kill animals in order to stuff them- modern taxidermy happens after the animal has died from natural causes, even from being hit by a car. In that way I think it's quite a beautiful thing to preserve that animal's natural beauty and spirit. I don't have a problem with antique taxidermy either as I figure that whoever potentially unethically created it is no longer with us and thus cannot profit from my purchase!

I know, I know, I'm probably not the most inoffensive person in the world. I like taxidermy, I like wearing certain furs, there are hundreds of photos of me smoking out there (even though I hate cigarette smoke, a cigarette in an antique holder is a classic accessory for glamour photos!), I like bondage and submission and fuel-guzzling vintage cars and sexy lingerie and prancing around in the great outdoors in the buff. But wouldn't the world be a duller place without all these things? I guess we all have our potentially offensive pleasures!

I don't mean to get on my soapbox, but it can become a little tiring to receive complaints almost every time a photo of me holding a drink, a cigarette, or wearing one my (fake!!) fur stoles appears on the internet.

Still, at least people are looking at my photos, I suppose!

Photographer: Julian M Kilsby | Designer: Anatomic Bomb | Hair: Leigh-Anne Regan | Makeup: me

Gosh, that was a bit of a tangent, I'd better sign off now before I witter on any further!!

Innuendo

Remember I said in December that I was making a video in Singapore with Ukay Cheung, Sinapore's leading fashion photographer? Well, here it is!! I hope you like it! It's an artistic film about women's struggles for equal rights in Singapore, with tightlaced corsetry representing male dominance and female submission...

I'm so excited to go back to Asia this winter! I plan on visiting Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and maybe more! Asian photographers are brilliant. The weather is always amazing, the people are so friendly and hospitable, the food is delicious and the cultures are fascinating... I can't really describe how it feels to be there but I always feel so relaxed and laidback. I think I'm looking forward to Singapore most for the food, beach and seeing the friends I've made there during my previous Asian Tours; Hong Kong to see Hannah Ashlea, who's living there with her boyfriend for a couple of years- she just moved and we have lots of shopping and wine-drinking to be catching up on, I think! And Tokyo for the amazing food, culture, huge variety of architecture, modern and traditional fashions, the tea ceremony... I went there for the first time in December and just fell in love. I didn't want to leave!! So I am very much looking forward to returning.

Today was spent shooting for the first time with a real photography icon of mine, Stephen Perry, in a great outdoor location in Folkestone. He called me yesterday morning and asked if I'd be interested in popping over and shooting with him today- I was like, hell yes! He's photographed lots of celebrities but my favourite section on his website is called "Peepshow"- check it out! He is one of the people on my secret wish list of photographers that I want to shoot with "one day". Well, today was that day! I hope to be able to share the photos soon. They're a combination of fashion, nudes, and fetish too, if you want to see it ;) I love fashion-orientated fetish images that are full of fetish innuendo!

A day to be a fool: look out world, here I come!

Fellow model Skin Diamond tweeted something the other day about working being a bit like meditating- very calming and mind-clearing, if you're doing work that you love, of course!

I had two photo shoots with two wonderful photographers back to back this weekend and am feeling particularly clear-minded when it comes to my goals this evening- not just things to do with work, but with life in general.

There is a huge list of places that I want to visit, for example, and I mean really explore, not just pass through. Some I've managed to get to already, some not, so I'm going to make a list to help keep my eyes on my goals! They may seem unlikely or even foolish, but if I can't dream like a fool on 1st April, when can I?!
